Nigel Chaloner spent his youth absorbing Science Fiction and experimenting with Super 8 & 35mm. Enchanted by the romance of Science Fiction he fell into a career in technology and travelled extensively including stints in California and Africa. Arriving home to England the reality gradually dawned that the lunatics had taken over the asylum. After banging his head against a brick wall for a while he dropped out, bought a motorcycle and biked around Europe. Imagination freed he returned to his passion and things he completed a film making diploma at Brighton Film School and now spends his time making films.
Based in Brighton, Cave Art Films work focuses on real people, real situations and the odd existential crisis. The 2022 feature documentary, Swings and Roundabouts, explored the impact of the COVID pandemic on the people and businesses of Brighton and was screened as part of the Brighton Rocks Film Festival, where it picked up a runner-up award for Best Documentary. Our current project is a tech-fiction feature entitled Automatic which is currently in post production. The film takes a dim but hopefully compelling look at post-industrial life and the creeping sense of disconnection that comes with it.
